    • DNF at 38%I was going to say that I feel badly for giving this 1-star, because the writing and the premise is pretty intriguing. Plus there's an interesting dichotomy within Queenie herself. I think if I were reading about her alone, instead of adding in some manufactured love interest, I would be enjoying this more. As it is I find it hard to care what happens to either character.Captain Michael Drake: Last surviving military captain in a war against the Calinthians - who have invaded Earth. He [...]

    • Heather Massey has yet to disappoint me. Despite my proclamation of loving romance, I am perfectly fine when romance burns in the background especially when there is enough indications along the way (sultry looks, brief touches, inner dialog of desire, etc). I see it as a dessert to compliment a perfectly written main course.Would you laugh if I told you Earth's last hope for survival rests in the hands of prisoners long locked away? Perhaps a chuckle or two but I guarantee you'd enjoy Heather's [...]

    • Oh boy! Sexual thoughts at multiple, inappropriate times. Yeah baby! So Drake has been captured. Queenie just had a one of his crew members tortured. So what does Drake do?! He lusts after and touches Queenie's body. Of course Queenie is so damn hawt! She (because what else is someone going to wear on a forgotten prison planet) is dressed in sexy, provocatively clothing. Her beast literally falls out. I had a WTF moment towards the end with the illusion/hallucination. It came out of left field. [...]

    • Rooting for the underdog can make for a fantastic story. When it's the last space ship left to lead the Rebellion, it's the stuff of great space opera. Throw in a forgotten prison colony and enough sexual tension to power the ship by itself, and you've got that best of all possible universes--science fiction romance. Queenie's Brigade by Heather Massey is just that, a terrific science fiction romance. Something there just isn't enough of these days.Michael Drake is the captain of the UFE Relentl [...]

    • Review originally posted here: thebookpushers/2011/10/20/Publisher: Red Sage PublishingPublish Date: Out Now!How I got this book: eARC from authorOne of the main reasons I decided to review this book by Massey was because of her email request, noting that I had read and enjoyed previous space-opera style romances. While I’ll admit this wasn’t my favorite, I did enjoy it.Drake hates to run away, but when he looks to be the last thing that could possibly revenge earth, he and his crew must do [...]

    • Space opera! Not that that's a bad thing. We've got the hero, whose backstory is caught in a prologue chapter, Michael Drake. He's the captain of the Relentless, a spaceship that has just gotten away from the bad space-creeps who wanted earth for their personal playground. Since the ship is damaged the crew ends up at a prison planet, where the prisoners are led by Queenie, a hot prison babe, who isn't really a prisoner. But she does have killer thighs and a 'tude! Queenie captures all of them b [...]

    • The fight for Earth isn't going very well for humanity. Captain Michael Drake leads one of the last starships still battling the alien race trying to take over the planet. But the aliens are winning. Just before they completely destroy his ship, his crew manages a space jump which lands them near a remote penal colony. The colony is run by Queenie, a tough yet seductive woman, who takes Drake and his crew as prisoners. She wants to use his ship to get her people off the long-abandoned planet. But [...]

    • Queenie's Brigade introduces us to Michael Drake and Queenie. We meet Starship Captain Drake when he's retreating from a losing battle against a Calithian invasion against Earth. The last thing he wants to do is flee, but he does so because they may just be Earth's only chance. He and his remaining crew dock the damaged ship, Relentless (love the name) at a prison colony called Hades Station. Queenie rules colony. When Drake's ship lands, she quickly captures him and his men, then takes control [...]

    • Earth has all but the lost the battle to the Calithians, the alien invaders. The only hope for survival and freedom is Captain Michael Drake and his lone damaged starship. But he knows he can’t win against the entire empire, so he retreats from battle to re-strategize. He ends up on an abandoned penal colony where the prisoners have taken control. Drake and his crew are captured by the prisoners, who are led by a woman named Queenie. He recognizes her leadership ability and tries to convince h [...]

    • This is an entertaining SciFi Romance adventure in a grim setting. I liked Captain Drake, even though he was a bit too unconcerned at times about the predicaments he finds himself in. I also had an immediate connection with his crew and after a bumpy start even with Queenie. I really enjoyed the developing romance between Drake and Queenie. What I did miss was a connection with Queenie's people, I'm not sure if it was the writing or if it is my personal likes and dislikes that were to blame for t [...]

    • Awesome, Kick ass heroine and a noble, sexy starship captain! I really enjoyed this story and it was fast paced, action adventure the entire way through. I loved How Queenie and Michael were opposites and strong but were still able to compliment each other. Ms. Massey did an awesome job of bringing them together w/out sacrificing the strength or ideals of either character. Ms. Massey lent me a copy of this book and I greatly appreciated that! I really enjoyed it and I look forward to more from h [...]

    • I adored this story. It caught me with the first paragraph. I liked Michael Drake immediately. The "dance" of seduction with Queenie, a strong and smart equal for him, was captivating. My only quibble? I wish it had been longer, or that there was a sequel. There needs to be more in the ultimate fight to save Earth. All in all, this space opera was strongly written and fun. It's now among my favorites.

    • SFR and a fun read. The Earth is conquered and only one ship escaped. That ship lands at a prison planet and both groups must join forces to survive. Good story for SFR fans.
