    • Despised and Desired is another wonderful heartfelt book by Bree Wolf. This woman brings the characters alive in the most beautiful way. Her characters are not flawless beauties of the first water. The characters in this story are beautiful in their deepest reaches inside. Elsbeth Munford may very well have been a beauty except there was a terrible accident that scarred her and took away the man she was set to marry and took away the veil of beauty that most men were looking for. When Frederick [...]

    • The 3th instalment in this series but it is perfectly readable as a stand alone . Bree Wolf has a very own writing style and she clearly has not followed the : How to write a Regency Romance Book course , which most of the new writers seem to have taken . She writes about deep feelings , emotions in an almost psychological way .How the storyline goes ? well read the book and find out for yourself :-) Enjoy !!!

    • Loved itThis book was my favorite of the series. There were no spies, no evil kidnappings, no shallow characters, and it even had an epilogue! The characters were all fleshed out, they actually had conversations, rather than just having you read their thoughts. I'm looking forward to the next book. I like seeing other people of the series popping up and seeing interactions between them; just seeing a glimpse of where life has taken them.

    • Bree did it again! I like her writing style, she makes you be part of the book and the characters become alive. I hope to read other books of this author as she has an amazing way of writing as she writes about deep feelings and emotions.

    • loved it .This is the third book by Bree Wolf I have read and bree didnt disappoint .well written ,,,, Ellie "s character so strongi fell in love with her myself .but Frederick came out as a weak & confused soule concept of d story is good wherein d author gives a msg dat watever happens in life v ve to move ahead a zeal of life . it & be happy. Frederick (Rick) and Elsbeth(Ellie's) story was amazing yet so sad.The story had a bit of suspense, murder, after affects of war, betrayal, lov [...]

    • IncredibleThis book is a little sad. He has returned from war broken. His family wants to support him but he is so broken he does not care. She is scarred and feels that now she will be a spinster. The characters are so real in their emotions and the situations they find themselves in. The plot is full bodied and is lush from the descriptions of the surroundings and the parts of the story I did not tell you about. I really loved the story and very highly recommend it.

    • My favorite story so far in this series! Loved Ellie and the light and life she brought back to Frederick's family despite her own insecurities. She was a beautiful heroine!

    • I'm really getting into this series and love where it's going. The characters are enlightening and reminiscent at the same time; women and possibly men as well will have and have had similar feeling and opinions as your characters and it's wonderful where you take us. Thanks

    • I selected the first book by Bree Wolf as a free read, since then I have purchased this one and one other, I intend to purchase more each month as I can. This one was a study in how people look at life and how people deal with sorrow. The Marquess' couldn't seem to mourn his best friend's death after he fell in battle by blaming himself. this seems to be a continuing problem even today when our soldiers come home from battle grounds from around the world. Having two others in his family die sudd [...]

    • You can't miss this book from Bree Wolf! It is one of her best's!!!! Passion, love, drama, pain We all deserve to be happy and in love!

    • Short review. This is the third book by Bree Wolf I have read and I'm glad I did. The book is about two damaged souls Frederick Lancaster who has just return broken from war and Elsbeth Munford who was once on the path to married the man she loved until a horrible fire left her scared. Frederick's mother fearing that her son will remain broken convinces him to marry and choses Elsbeth as the right woman to not only heal what's broken in her son but also heal what's broken in Elsbeth too. The sto [...]

    • I just love seeing the struggles that both main characters go through and how they overcome everything together and help bring each other out of the dark!!! Beautiful story! ❤

    • I was given an Advanced Copy for an honest review. Both Elsbeth and Frederick have scars and been through a lot. Elsbeth is able to slowly chip away at Frederick's walls after they marry. Elsbeth has physical scars from a fire when she younger. She has physical flaws Rick is returning home from the battlefield. He saw his best friend die on the battlefield. He feels guilty cause he couldn't save him. Slowly Ellie breaks down his walls and start feeling again. At the same time helping his newly w [...]

    • Couldn't get investedHad higher hopes for this book. It was a lot of telling how the characters felt and what they went through but I never felt connected at all to them or felt for what they went through. Virtually no romance, interaction, or conversation between couple. It was a lot of 'they told each other their story and understood each other better' only once did we get to experience a conversation between them with actual dialogue. Not the best but not the worst. I just could not get conne [...]

    • I received this book in exchange for an honest review. The story is well written and enchant you until the last page. The main characters are strong and with a painful past. Elsbeth manages to continue to see the beautiful side of life and the joy it can bring, while Frederick was isolated from the life and to avoid pain. Only with great patience and love Elsbeth manages to bring back the joy and the will to live with her husband Frederick and his family.A wonderful story full of feelings, desire [...]

    • I received this book in exchange for a review. This book would have gotten a four star review. The story is interesting and you come to care for the characters. The main thing that prevent this are the historical inaccuracies. Why would a child of six have neither a nanny nor a governess to take her in hand ? When do characters of the e ra use phrases such as 'stressed out'? Fix the little inconsistencies and the book will be great.

    • Historical or regency romances are something that I've only really just started reading in the past few years. Having said that, I have read really great ones. This one is not one of them. It's good, but falls short of great. I love a richly detailed story. I do. However, this book went beyond detailed to downright boring. I found myself more than once skimming to get to the meatier parts of the book. Those were few and far between the longer the book ran. I also had a huge issue with the hero. [...]

    • PTSDThis is a story of a man who fought in the Napoleonic Wars and, unsurprisingly, returned home with PTSD. Considering the total barbarity of war in those days (even worse, if possible, than today) it was to be expected. Elspeth (Ellie) and Rick (Frederick) met when she was twelve and he a few years older. She was caught in a compromising position while paddling in a cool stream with no shoes or stockings on! Rick made his two friends swear to not say anything and sent them away. He then turne [...]

    • 4.5 stars. This was the first book by Bree Wolf I've ever read, and I've just loved it. Ellie Munford was a beautiful girl until she decided to face a fire to save her little brother's life. Since then, the scars the fire left are the only thing people see in her, so she had resigned to a life of solitude, though she never lost the will of living and helping others.Frederick Lancaster is the second son of a Marquess who returns from war physically and mentally scarred from the loss of his best f [...]

    • After a terrible accident leaves Elsbeth Munford scarred for life, she resigns herself to a life of spinsterhood. One day her parents tell her she is to marry Frederick Lancaster, Marquess of Elmridge. Ellie and Rick met once many years ago as youngsters, but only Ellie remembers Rick and how he helped her out of a jam. Frederick comes home from the war embittered and angry at the loss of his best friend Kenneth. He blames himself and believes he should have been the one to die. He does not want [...]

    • TWO BROKEN SOULS SEARCH FOR LOVEThis 5 star book is a great read for ages of 18 yrs and up. I liked that the PTSD from a war that left the men to be candies at court, was not understood even in the Recency period, and just overlooked by majority of people. In this book we have a man who is scarred with PTSD, from war in both his mind and heart, who believes that nobody who knows what he actually did there could love him or that he would ever deserve to be loved. He inherits a titile and for its [...]

    • I loved this novel, despite the darkness and morose nature of the hero. When Frederick returns from war, wounded and riddled with guilt over his best friend that he couldn't save, he enters into a world of dark ponderings and misgivings. Elsbeth has also had her share of pain and suffers the consequences of her heroic deed. In a society where beauty and perfection reign supreme, she finds herself being rejected because of her scars. In the Lancaster household she finds peace and acceptance, even [...]

    • This is Ellie and Frederick's story and what a story it it!Both have issues and are scarred - she is physically scarred and he, mentally, but she is a compassionate and strong young lady who has decided that it is better to face reality and continue with life, helping those she can as she lives her life. She really has to work hard to get through to Frederick, but she does and how she goes about this is what this book is all about. It is a great story, filled with the building of trust between Ell [...]
